The one number it turns on
Wholesale price per bottle (to Twelve Green Bottles)
£
Ex-VAT. Enter the actual wholesale price to update every figure below.

Because a bottle costs the same to make whichever way it sells, cost and duty drop out of the comparison. In-house net revenue minus the wholesale price is the extra profit per bottle, before any volume growth.

Assumptions (edit any)

Fulfilment basis: FBA. The fulfilment figures are Amazon's own FBA fulfilment costs, verified against the UK rate card and Revenue Calculator, because those are the numbers that can be pinned to the penny. If Liquid Diamond ships by another route (seller-fulfilled through Twelve Green Bottles, LCB or another 3PL), overwrite the fulfilment cell with that route's cost. Every white cell is editable and persists what you type, including the per-format fulfilment and storage cells. Storage is pre-filled from the rate-card wine rate (£0.76/ft³ off-peak, £1.51/ft³ peak) times each pack's volume times the months held; changing months or season refreshes those storage defaults.

Verdict

Read it this way: in-house net per bottle is what you keep after Amazon takes its cut. Subtract the wholesale price and you get the extra profit per bottle versus selling through Twelve Green Bottles.

Storage is the seasonal watch-item. The peak rate (£1.51/ft³) is double off-peak and falls in the exact months Liquid Diamond holds the most stock for Christmas. Stock pre-built too early also risks the aged-inventory surcharge (241+ days). Model months-held honestly rather than assuming everything sells the month it lands.

Fee coverage · every Amazon fee accounted for

Included in the figures above

  • Referral fee · 10% of sale, min £0.25/item
  • FBA fulfilment fee · by size tier, off-peak and peak, including the 1.5% fuel surcharge
  • Digital Services Fee · 2% on referral + fulfilment (UK, since Oct 2024)
  • Ad regulatory fee · ~2% on ad spend (folded into the 2% line)
  • Inbound placement · no separate UK fee (unlike the US); Amazon folds network distribution into the standard fulfilment rate, so it is already inside the fulfilment figures above
  • Advertising · PPC at target TACoS
  • Monthly storage · £0.76/ft³ off-peak, £1.51/ft³ peak, by pack volume and months held
  • Breakage + prep/misc · glass damage allowance and per-unit prep

Outside the per-unit model · flag to Beyond Wines

  • Professional selling plan · £25/month fixed, negligible per unit at volume
  • Low-inventory-level fee · only if stock cover drops below ~28 days
  • Aged-inventory surcharge · stock held 241+ days; a real risk given Q4 pre-build, so plan inbound timing
  • Storage utilisation surcharge · only if storage is high relative to sales
  • Refund administration fee · on returns, ~20% of referral (capped); minor for wine
  • Coupon & deal fees · only when promoting (~£4-5 + % per coupon, ~£50-70 per Lightning/Best Deal)
  • Inbound freight to Amazon · the only real inbound cost in the UK: physical carriage to the fulfilment centre, paid per shipment via your own carrier or Amazon's discounted Partnered Carrier Program. Roughly offsets today's freight to Twelve Green Bottles, so treated as a wash
  • Excluded by design · COGS and duty, identical both ways, so they cancel

All rates per the Amazon UK FBA rate card effective 1 July 2026, verified against Keepa live fees and the Revenue Calculator. Storage uses the "all other categories" wine rate.
